ABOUT US : History
Robertson Building Systems has stood the test of time; over 145 years. Our success can be attributed to our unique ability to adapt to changing construction markets, use technological advancements to improve our processes, our desire for continuous improvement and, most importantly, our desire to build strong relationships. With an ever-expanding authorized. Robertson Builder network, Robertson is a market leader providing exceptional custom designed metal building products and services to the construction industry.
In 1863, Thomas Irwin opened Thomas Irwin and Son, a construction products manufacturing company in Sarnia, Ontario and relocated to Hamilton in 1910. By 1946, Irwin and Son had joined forces with the H.H. Robertson Co., a provider of Irwin and Son products. The Canadian company was renamed Robertson-Irwin Limited.
In 1968, Robertson-Irwin partnered with Varco Pruden, and built a new factory in Hamilton in 1969. In 1971, Robertson bought Varco Pruden’s shares. Growing in size and capability, Robertson purchased Star Building Systems in 1988 and then merged with the Ceco Corporation in 1990. The merger provided an extension of products and systems integration opportunities, again strengthening the company. Robertson-Ceco Corporation was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange and in April 2000, Heico Corp. purchased all outstanding shares.
Robertson-Ceco Corporation was purchased by NCI Building Systems Inc. and has been a valued member
since April 2006. |
