NEWS : Why Robertson?

Ventures West Transport project featured in Metal Construction News
November 2010

The October issue of Metal Construction News featured a Robertson building project.

MCG Joint Ventures of Edmonton, AB recently built two new buildings at the Sturgeon County, AB location for Ventures West Transport after their existing facility was outgrown. The company is a common carrier specializing in bulk commodities and focusing on operations in the four western provinces of Canada, the Yukon and the Northwest territories.

Planworks Studios of Edmonton, AB was the designer of the 6,300 square-foot (585 m2) dispatch and office building, as well as the 19,500 square-foot (1,811 m2) storage and maintenance building.

Both structures used Robertson Building Systems’ structural systems and SSR standing seam roof. The storage and maintenance building is clad with Robertson 26-gauge A-36 wall panel with PBR panel used as the interior liner panel.

Other materials on the project include products from Montreal-based Novabrik International Inc. and Redmond, WA-based Ceraclad.

The owner, Glenn Bauer, had prior experience with metal buildings and was very satisfied with the performance; hence, when considering materials for the new facility, a steel structure was preferred.

By using Robertson Building System products, MCG Joint Ventures offered a practical, cost-effective, architecturally appealing solution.

Robertson also handled the mezzanine steel and decking, providing one-stop shopping for all the steel on the project, minimizing additional co-ordination and expediting delivery.
